New self-contained cloud servers are rapidly becoming part of many companies' IT infrastructure. Unlike data centers (also called computer rooms or electronic data processing centers) cloud servers are extremely easy to deploy, and can be up and running in as little as a few hours in a co-location facility, or corporate office room or building.
Firetrace can be a valuable addition to these critical mobile units by placing automatic fire suppression in the cabinet of the cloud server. Firetrace provides a self-activating standalone fire suppressing solution that installs right inside of the enclosure itself and is functional 100% of the time – even if the server power supply is interrupted!
With all of the electrical components, power supplies, wires, and cables associated with these applications electrical shorts and electrical fires can be a very real threat that can destroy equipment and increase your maximum tolerable downtime.
The proprietary red Firetrace Detection Tubing (FDT) can be run throughout the critical areas of the enclosures providing detection right at the potential source of fire. In simple terms, the closer the detection is to the source of the fire the faster the system can react to suppress the fire.
The Firetrace detection tubing is non-conductive and flexible enough to run in between components where necessary.
Upon detection of fire, the Firetrace system can discharge a variety of fire-suppressing agents. Typically, most computer installations are charged with clean agents such as:
DuPont™ FM-200® (also identified as Heptafluoropropane CF3CHFCF3) is a gaseous agent that is a Halon substitute
3M® NOVEC® 1230 Fire Suppressing Fluid complies with ISO 14520 and NFPA 2001 criteria.
These clean agents operate by lowering temperature and interfering with the chemical process which is present during combustion.
These are non-conductive, non-corrosive, and people safe further protecting your critical investments.
Firetrace systems are available with an optional pressure switch that can be tied into an emergency power off switch or alarm system to notify you when a fire event occurs.
Firetrace also offers a solution where activation can occur through a smoke detector or building alarm (Firetrace indirect systems only).
